Liverpool’s ever-blazing Brazilian forward has been robbed at his luxurious apartment in the Victorian City where hooded gangs reportedly carted away with jewellery, watches and clothes estimated to be in the region of £70,000.
It is understood the thieves left on foot after perpetrating thier nefarious act as at the time Brazil midfielder Roberto Firmino and his wife Larissa and two kids were not at home in December after they moved to a hotel following intelligence from police that they have been targeted by burglars.
It is believed the thieves previously targeted the property before Christmas but were disturbed on that occasion after watching the house for a number of days and they eventually pounced on December 22 when the former Hoffenheim playmaker had left home with his family.
Daily Mail claims Liverpool officials have now moved Firmino to a secure location with his wife and kids believed to be a hotel and have also beefed up security around the infiltrated home.
“They’d obviously been watching Roberto come and go, then swooped in,” a source told The Sun.
“It’s thought they are the same guys who were disturbed mid-burglary on a previous occasion.
“He was obviously shaken up as he has a young family, so the club had him in a hotel before giving him security at the house.”
Det Insp Steve Christian of Liverpool CID added: “While the occupiers were not in at the time, it has clearly been very upsetting to find their home has been ¬targeted in this way.”
Firmino, 25, has scored seven times in 22 outings this term for Jurgen Klopp’s side as he seems to be enjoying his second season at Anfield albeit off the pitch, he has been charged with drink-driving before the robbery incident.
Liverpool meanwhile face Southampton in the EPL Cup semi-final first-leg at St Mary’s on Wednesday night after playing out a goalless draw with Plymouth in the Emirates FA Cup on Sunday. Their next outing is a crunch Premier League clash against old foes Manchester United.
