Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo has won the FIFA Best Men’s Player of the Year Award for 2016.
The Portugal international defeated Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann to the prize, after the trio had been named as the finalists.
The award was decided by fans, journalists, national team captains, and national team coaches, with votes from each group counting as 25% of the total.
It is the fourth time that the 31-year-old has picked up the title of world’s best player, which split from the Ballon d’Or this year – which Ronaldo also won back in December.
The forward inspired Real Madrid to win the Champions League and Portugal to win the European Championships during an incredible year, beating his long-time rival Messi in to second.
His statistics for the calendar year are also impressive, with the former Manchester United ace scoring a ridiculous 42 goals in 44 games as well as grabbing 14 assists.
